Stafford County Historical Society
The Stafford County Historical Society is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated since 1965 to the historical education, preservation and enrichment of Stafford County, Virginia's citizens and visitors. Through the objective and dispassionate study, discussion and dissemination of all aspects of Stafford's rich prehistory and history, we seek to teach ourselves and others through monthly meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and publication of books, compact discs, pamphlets and brochures.
We recognize contributions to our county history through the "Keepers of the Knowledge" program, the "Voices of Stafford Oral History Program" and other awards. The primary focus of our society since its inception has been to support the creation and operation of a Stafford Museum and Visitors Center which will further inform our populace and visitors and guide them to our county's historical attractions. All of our fundraising efforts have been toward that end. Membership in the society is open to all with an interest in Stafford's history and all of our meetings are open to the public.
